After being in the workforce for most of my life, my dream was to be able to exercise more often when I retired. After a "takeover" by another organization my retirement came sooner than I expected at age 68. I have always been a committed person and never missed a day of work and had a sense of camaraderie with my co-workers.
The first few days I felt so lost, then I remembered I had an unused membership to the Y. I went to a couple of evening classes at first, then decided to go in the morning. The feeling I got almost immediately was one of belonging and a purpose. Every morning, I had to get up, dressed, and out the door to be on time for my classes. It became my new "job". I met some wonderful people and made many new friends. We all support one another in our goal to be healthier but also support one another in life's journey and changes.
The classes given by Barbara, Nancy, Kristine, and Fran have greatly improved my strength and stamina and I consider them my "personal trainers"! I am very grateful to them for improving my body and also my mind! I cannot imagine my life without my West Essex YMCA experience!

There's rarely a crowd so I can use the equipment without waiting. Also the front desk people are very polite and helpful.

I like it because the ymca is nice and clean. And it’s very easier to evercise more than the other gym.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the childcare program at the YMCA! My daughter has been attending for a while now, and every day she looks forward to going. The staff is incredibly caring, professional, and attentive, making sure the kids are always engaged, happy, and safe. The activities are educational and fun, and it’s clear that they really focus on the overall well-being and development of each child.

It has been the most enjoyable and secure experience with our toddler being at this Y! The staff genuinely care for our child. She learns so much. They have done an incredible job with facilitating potty training and implementation of great use of manners. I’d be lost without their ongoing and unwavering support. We are so very grateful to have made the decision to have our child establish a relationship with the Y and be able to sustain it so far.
I’d highly recommend the Y to anyone who’s looking for an early childhood program where their child could not only meet but exceed their milestones, flourish emotionally and socially, and really be the happy child we wish to have them experience during their formative years. Nurturing staff, clean facility, daily updates, active communication between home and school. Invaluable elements to have during these years.

Love the swim classes and swim team. Staff are great. Wish the facility was bigger/better (I know, it’s coming soon!)
