It was the best time i ever had at any camp
Staff
Clean, family-friendly atmosphere. Great staff and personal trainers!
This is my daughter’s second year and she loves it. The counselors are fantastic and I love that she’s outside in the fresh air, active all day with friends. The heat would scare me off to be honest, but my daughter is having so much fun she hardly mentions it. What a wonderful camp they put on!
My grandboys enjoyed YMCA camp-on-the-lake tremendously! It's their 4th year to spend a part of their summer at Lewisville Lake. They like everything about it.
Thank you!
My boys love it!
Friendly personnel, clean environment, and excellent exercise equipment.
The friendliness and it's very clean
I absolutely loved this camp as did my daughter. I wish I had found it sooner. What I appreciate is that they keep the kids active all day. So many camps in the area are for just a few hours or half day at best. That’s more of a nuisance than a help. This place is great. Staff seem really good too! We will be back for sure.
My kiddo comes home excited about the activities from the day and proud of herself for stepping out of her comfort zone!
This is the 3rd summer my son has attended Camp on the Lake - he picked the week this year based on the theme - Camp Olympics. Every year he has an amazing time - meets new friends, enjoys the water activities (tubing and kayaking are favorites) and also the games on land - tether ball, archery, bb guns, etc. The counselors are super friendly and make the kids feel safe. We love COTL and recommend it to people all the time!
I love the variety of activities that they have for the kids and they get to be outdoors trying things that I’m not able to provide for them like boating and canoeing and BB guns, etc.
I love the drop off and pick up experience. It’s so easy to just drive in and drop them off. I live close enough to the cross Timber’s one that we just dropped them off at the campsite and it’s amazing.
I enjoy seeing all my friends and socializing with them. I love that most classes are included in my membership.
The the young lady that we had was very kind to our daughter and understanding she was previously scared of water because she didn't know how to swim at all so she was able to get her comfortable with it and build trust.
Great instructions, pool has various areas for different levels so that’s works very well even if there are multiple groups.
My child enjoyed swimming. I’d like my 2 youngest to receive lessons due to see so much improvement in baby’s swimming. The instructors were patient and very understanding/caring with his autism. ❤️❤️
Kylie Riggs is the best teacher I have ever encountered at the YMCA. Her classes are always changing making the work outs really fun. She also explains why she is choosing the yoga exercises and how it can help you in real life. She does exercises that really matter and improve your movements for every day life. Some other yoga teacher do not explain, show proper technique or help any of the people in the class. They only want to do a yoga pose to do the pose, giving no guidance or ques to help the client do the pose correctly. Kylie is the best. The Y is so lucky to have someone who has so much knowledge and is willing to share and help everyone.
We liked everything! Look, I know my kids are a handful and a half but Heidi and Katie handled their behavior with grace all while drastically improving their swimming skills. We will definitely be containing w Y swim lessons in the fall!
Our camper loved all of the activities especially the archery. We loved the friendliness of all the staff & their organization. Good times!
Friendly staff, abundant equipment
Great, friendly, kind swim coaches. Flexible schedules that work for most schedules.
This camp was most what I remember camp being like as a kid. I liked that it was outdoors, a full day, and has activities like boating and archery that are not available everywhere else. Most camps my kids have been too are more like childcare with a weekly theme, this was actually going to camp.
Choices of exercises. Very friendly and helpful people. Caring coaches. Lots of seniors like me, for joyful interaction.
I lOVED the location, set up, and outdoor experience of it all. Pick up and drop off was smooth (though a bit confusing because of different times, locations, etc. for our location at Cross Timbers and due to rain/mud. I figured it out eventually, though!) He liked the variety of activities, especially the boating activities.
Variety of activities outside
Have been going to Cross Timbers Family Y since 1989, have made a lot of friends and I try to work out at least 4 days a week. When I started it was 5 days a week but I have slowed down some. I will be 82 in September and my wife 79. We work out with other 75+ year olds at 5 in the morning when the Y opens. We work out for about an hour and then enjoy coffee and laughs with these same people from 6AM to 7AM. Sometimes up to 10 people in our little group.
All of us have our share of physical drawbacks but also we are as healthy as possible because of our workout routines. We hope to continue as long as we can.
Great experience for kids
Outdoor and engaging activities
Our counselor, Bubbles, was OUTSTANDING. She connected with all the girls in my daughter’s group. She set a great example of having fun and being safe on the lake. My daughter hasn’t stopped talking about the friends and counselors that made her experience one of the BEST weeks of her summer. From tubing with captain to being greeted warmly by Radar, our girl had the best care every second she was at camp on the lake. We can’t wait to come next summer. Thank you to all of the energetic staff members for keeping up with the kiddos!

I have been going there for many, many years, and I will continue to go there!
I love the Cross Timbers Family YMCA!
