I didn’t plan on getting my fortune told at the Essex flea market last year, but something drew me to the tent draped in deep purple velvet. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of incense, and the fortune teller—Madame Zora, as the sign read—sat behind a table cluttered with crystals, tarot cards, and an old brass pendulum. Her eyes were sharp and almost unnervingly knowing.

“You’ve been searching for something,” she said in a voice that sent chills down my spine. “You seek… a new look… and the secret lies at Floyd’s 99 Barbershop… in Lutherville”

I blinked. A barbershop? In Lutherville?!

Madame Zora simply smiled, waving her hand over a glowing crystal ball. Before I could ask any questions, she added, “Keep an eye out—tonight, you’ll glimpse what most never believe. But remember: you were meant to get your hair cut at Floyd’s.”

Puzzled but curious, I took her advice and headed to Floyd’s. As I left the distinct stench of Essex, MD, the day felt... off.

The sky had turned a strange, glowing orange. While driving, I swear I saw something massive and hairy out of the corner of my eye. Bigfoot? Impossible, yet my pulse quickened. It disappeared into the woods as soon as I tried to get a better look.

Things only got weirder. Just before reaching York rd, I saw something soar above the road—a figure with huge wings, glowing eyes, like the Mothman stories I heard as a child in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Finally when at Floyd’s 99 Barbershop, I was welcomed by a rad little shop with dope music playing on the stereo. I met Sam, who proceeded to cut my shaggy mop top into a stylish new ‘do.

My haircut was perfect, but the conversation? Eerily on point. Sam talked about strange local sightings—Bigfoot, Mothman—and I felt the universe aligning.

Madame Zora was right. If you’re looking for more than just a haircut, go to Floyd’s- it’s your destiny-- and shockingly affordable!
