Member Testimonials
Very organized and professional, starting with the Director to coaches & assistant coaches.
Promotes technical skill enhancement & problem-solving skills.
Great pace of practices & games.
Timing and structure
The program was good. The boys and coaches had a good time and learned some things. Becca who leads sports at the midlo location was wonderful. I’ve never experienced someone so invested in the teams and people at an individual level.
Here are a few examples: when my son injured his arm at a practice, not only did she help us out with ice, etc, but she called me personally to check on him the next day. Additionally, when the season wrapped she hand wrote notes to each coach thanking them in great detail for their contributions to the teams and to the league. The personal touch went way above and beyond what I would have expected. That alone makes me want to come back and play again next year. Becca is the best!
We are so impressed with Becca and Basketball at the Midlo Y. Thank you for all you do!!
Great experience for youth in the sports programs
Excellent
Made it a wonderful experience for my grandson (and me) as it enhanced his sportsmanship, teamwork and made new friendships!!
Super organized and friendly staff!
I could not say enough great things about Becca. Her management of the program was exemplary and truly made for a great season! Thank you to her efforts to help coordinate schedules, ensure playoff games could be attended by parents for siblings, and great communication/encouragement.
We appreciated the appropriate time commitment for the appropriate age group. 30 min of practice and 30 minutes of scrimmage for my kindergarten kid was perfect! Low pressure and lots of fun introduction to the game!
I liked it all: Becca is awesome and so is her staff
Friendly and supportive environment for the kids.
I love the sportsmanship, how the kids learn to be a part of a team, the management of competitive expectations, and the care the coaches have for each player.
Over the years that we've participated, we've certainly learned a lot about how to play and coach soccer. More importantly, we've made new friends along the way. Becca, Maggie and all of the staff do a wonderful job supporting coaches and players alike. Great programs, great staff, great friends! What could be better?
Had a wonderful first experience all around for our 3 year old in soccer.
Midlothian YMCA SOCCER has been our best experience not only as a parent to watch our child learn the sport but for us as coaches. This particular location is very organized with a lot of communication and details provided through Playerspace as well as individual emails. I have been part of other sports organizations and hands down YMCA has been the best. From uniforms, picture day, the player pledge, to games and practice ideas, YMCA definitely stands out and where will continue to be part of with our son.
Becca is the best ever!
Great culture, low-key way of letting kids explore different sports. Love that there are no week-day practices for younger ages.
Meet my expectations
Great staff, week organized!

My daughter really enjoys the basketball clinic at the Midlothian YMCA and a big part of it is due to Coach Rebecca Wenger. She’s great with the kids and has basketball knowledge. We tried the clinic at Shady Grove and it just was not the same experience.
I love that the programs all place values on sportsmanship and working as a team. I don't think the environment stresses student athletes out at all, which is so important when introducing kids to sports. My kids have learned so much and want to continue.
They facility is very nice, clean and offers many options. The staff are amazing!!
I love how it’s just people in the community that just want sports and fun for their kids. Such nice families and also ymca staff.
Very laid back atmosphere. No pressure and kids there to have fun. The tournament though should not combine the coed with only boy teams.
Great staff, good vibes, good kids
The programs at the YMCA are great. My boys love them and we love the diverse amount of programs offered.
The YMCA programs are an excellent way to give children exposure to new sports. Its an appropriate environment for playing and learning.

Rebecca did a great job at communicating!! She was very professional, prepared and communicated well. The entire staff of YMCA was extremely helpful. The referees were helpful and supportive during all the games and the gym was always open and ready for when we showed up to play/practice. In addition, the game times were accurate and everything stayed on pace. We have played sports with several other associations around the area and hands down this has been the best experience we have every had. Will absolutely be signing our kids up again to play with the YMCA!
