The studio and class atmosphere
The availability of class times and locations
The calm environment & clear instruction
Teachers, number of classes offered in a day, lovely vibe from reception...
In many ways, it is a wonderful studio. Staff who greet new arrivals are very nice. Some teachers are very good. Colin, Cameron and Jazz are great. Most of them are on the young side, which is fine, but it would be nice to mix things up with more mature teachers and have some diversity in there. The teachers all have a really nice energy, but they're quite similar to one another - basically young, good-looking white people. I prefer a smaller studio (but I like Vin classes, which are only at the larger studios). The studio doesn't disappoint me - I go several times a week, but there's a "same-ness" to it.
The studio at Granville Island is easily accessible & parking is free. The studio itself
is a great space, bright with great views and well managed. The instructors are top notch and everyone is very friendly.
I like that you provide mats - it makes it easier to drop by for an unplanned yoga class on the way home from work for example.
I also like the introductory offer of a whole month of unlimited yoga for $25 - it was definitely a factor in me signing up!
One thing for improvement for me would be mirrors in the studios. People have different views on that, but I really like to have at least one wall with mirrors.
Things are pretty good right now. Like the new additions of the changing room, and the tea at Sun centre.
It would be nice to see more classes taught at Sun with Nathalie, Diana, and Jolene, plus more hands-on help with subtle adjustments to postures by instructors going around the room (with permission to touch of course). If possible, I'd like to see more varied asanas outside of variations on the sun salutations (e.g. locust, fish, camel)--Nathalie is very good with that.
Great teachers, excellent schedule, friendly staff, convenient locations.
I really appreciate how secure and comfortable I feel at your studios. This allows me to completely focus and get lost in my breath (really its like i enter a time warp when i hit the mat)while enjoying the community at the same time. The facilities themselves are safe and comfortable, the students are gentle, kind, respectful. The teachers really give so much of themselves and contribute to the security and comfort of the studio.I have learned so much from them and I am very grateful. I love Joan's singing, kindness, smiles, and humour. I feel so safe with Diana that when I first started coming to Semperviva I just followed her instructions and enjoyed new postures that I really didn't know if I could do, I just went for it with no expections and they ended up being delicious yin poses. I love Joanne's space she creates at the beginning of each class for reflection and the time she gives for creating your intention and then lets beautiful classes unravel for her students in quiet meditation. I love Bernie's stories. Colin is a little ball of joy and should be prescribed for cases of the blues. I love Peter's light hearted humour and questions and teachings he brings to share with every class. Cameron has an amazing way of teaching, he really makes you think but does it in a very neutral way (like he is not there but is your own inner voice). And of course Gloria. I have never been the same since my first morning kundalini class with her :)
Thanks Semper
everything so far
Colin is a fabulous instructor (we love all the other instructors too, but Colin has been especially rocking it lately!), Semperviva studios overall are friendly and comfortable environments for even us yoga n00bs, front desk staff are welcoming and helpful!
Thanks for a consistently great experience!
I was immediately greeted by a very friendly woman who made me feel like I was her only client ever. She was kind, helpful, informative, gave me some useful tips about classes for ground zero beginners like me, and she made sure the instructor came over to introduce herself. The latter by the way was also wonderful. Jolene was the instructor for my class, and I made sure I thanked her for the class too. I don't know why I never did this earlier. I am looking very forward to my next class. Thank you staff at Semperviva!
Kind regards, Name removed
I feel the classes are often overcrowded and not enough individual attention. Last class I had to leave because there was no space for me.
Great clean spaces. Friendly staff. Beautiful atmosphere
The friendliness and openness of all the staff made for a very inviting space. It felt like a community that welcomed new members with open arms.
The friendliness of the staff, the quality of the facilities and the Instructors.
