Having lived in DC for the past 10 years, Ii have grown accustomed to the
$30-$50 price for a haircut from a professional stylist. Which is a lot for a simple trim.
But because my hair is very thick, wavy, temperamental, and hard to control, even a professional stylist or barber can butcher it. I’ve had many experiences like this when I move to a new area, so when I find someone who cuts it right, I stick with them. And If I move away, I tend to let my hair just grow out, since I’d rather have long hair than a foolish haircut!
So when I walked into SportClips this past Sunday, my hair was VERY LONG. I typically do not prefer franchise chains for haircuts, however, seeing so many positive reviews of this location, and being that my access to a “high end” men’s stylist is limited by the rural area I now live in, i felt I would give it a shot. I also used to work in the franchise industry and so wa very familiar with their model.
But I can say without a doubt that while I walked in nervous as usual that a new person might shear me like a sheep, within just a few minutes of being seated, all my nervousness melted away. My stylist, Megan, was fantastic. She listened to what I prefer, was able to understand what I wanted without even showing a picture; nor was I even able to use all the right stylist terms and measurements. But she really listened to everything I had to say, and was able to put it all together to give me what is undoubtedly the BEST haircut I have ever gotten. That was most impressive. She was patient with me, checking to make sure every step looked ok to me, while also keeping things moving so I wouldn’t be there for an hour.
She was attentive to every detail, clearly focused on making sure I was getting what I wanted. All the while maintaining good conversation, and making the experience pleasant. She even showed and explained to me how many of the products and techniques other stylist were using (who also charged much more for their services) were actually making my hair less manageable!
The convenience of the check in system was great. The hair wash was heavenly. Well beyond what I was expecting. I had no idea I would be walking into a separate room with a classy but unpretentious feel to get my hair washed in a wonderful soft leather recliner.
But again, my stylist made it even better as she was accommodating to every detail, even down to making sure I was ok with the Tea Tree shampoo they typically use. Having a sensitive scalp, I personally don’t like it. Nor the hot towel unless I am getting a straight razor shave
And all this for the most reasonable price I’ve ever paid. And in 2 weeks, I can come in for a free neck touch up if I want!
For anyone out there who might have reservations about going to a SportClips, I’d say this: if you think it is just another franchise trying to lure you in with TVs, and sports, it’s much more than that. Yes it does Have those nice little cool features like a tv and a massage, and quick easy check in via mobile app. But it’s also a place where people like
me who are most concerned about getting a decent hair cut, end up leaving with an EXCELLENT haircut! Because the staff really knew what they were doing. I am still blown away by how much attention to detail and talent their staff showed. At a reasonable price that seems to good to be true.
Can’t say enough about how great my experience was. Expectations were vastly exceeded. The TVs and shampoo were nice, but, Again, it was the talent and professionalism of my stylist that blew me way and at n unbeatable price that will bring me back in 3 weeks.

I like the friendly staff and sports atmosphere. I enjoy the hot towels, face and head massage along with the massage chair then the neck and shoulder massage.
My stylist Megan does a great job and is very polite, professional and skilled.
I would like you bring back the cold towels for the Summer and Fall.
I always like the friendliness of the stylist and the cut, wash, hot towel and massage at the end.
My 7 yr old loves coming to Sports Clips, the atmosphere and his stylist, Megan!

My stylist is NEVER afraid to try new things. We always pick designs out to give her a challenge. The one that she did on my head this time was one of my favorite designs. Alysia is the ONLY stylist that will EVER do my hair at this location. If she leaves, I will follow her to wherever she goes to or find a different Sports Clips
The products are great and the stylists are even better you’re treated like a king or queen and the head massages is out of this world. A great pick me up if your having a bad day.

I like that they use the product on you first then you see the results. Then they offer to sell it to you, tell you when it is on sale, and how long it should last. It is always fast service and online check in is the best!! Also I enjoy getting my hair cut by Megan, she is always happy and great conversation, not mention love the way she cuts my hair. She changes it up sometimes and always comes out looking great! Also if she is not there the other girls are awesome too, very friendly and do a great job also!
This was my first time in there to get a hair cut. The young lady that cut my hair did a fantastic job. It seemed that all the employees got a log with each other very well. to me that makes a good business surrounding. With good employees and atmosphere this will bring more men for hair cuts and taking better care of themselves.
