I love the community feel of this center. I wish there was more opportunity or at least a space set aside for youth to play basketball. Outside of other (non basketball) activities taking up the gym, it’s over run by adult men so women, teenagers, and younger children have to play around the men. Everyone is nice, I’ve never had a problem but it would be nice to be able to practice basketball with my sons without the fear of being run over.

The Y feels like a second family! When I first moved to Detroit I didn't really know anyone. Because of this the Boll Family YMCA became my happy place. A place where I could feel accepted and where I could feel a place of community. The Y has also helped be consistent in my weight loss and fitness journey. Since being at the Y I have lost 35 pounds and it is the culture of health and fitness that has helped me keep it off. Over the course of the two years that I have been at the Y, I have seen the fitness class options go from pretty good to amazing and I'm pretty excited that these class additions will help me to accomplish my long standing fitness goals. Not only would l suggest that someone join the Boll family YMCA but I have suggested this to people that I know and at least one person has.
The staff is very accommodating and helpful. The facility is well cared for, sanitary and in great operational condition. All efforts are made to provide a comfortable, productive and healthy experience.
Usually staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable and judgement free. I enjoy using the track being able to walk at my own pace.

It's a first rate facility, with great resources for body and mind. Perhaps most importantly, I really appreciate the people -- both the staff and the other members. It's a wonderful environment. Like Detroit, this Y has a big heart!

Very friendly staff, they keep the place clean and organized. Good space between machines and equipment and a good amount of equipment. The only improvement/comment I would have would that it would be nice to have some sort of stretching bands (like yoga straps).
I love the Y downtown. Its so beautiful and I love looking out the huge windows when I workout. I don't love to workout but doing it there makes it easier to go. People are always worried about the parking but it hasn't been a problem for me yet.
The facility has so much to offer for anyone. I love the Y.
--Lap Pool - CLEAN - helpful, walking, and vigilant guards watching more carefully than any lifeguards I've ever seen. One of them found my swim fins which I had forgotten. (I know. Hard to believe I'd walk off without them.)
--Shallow pools for kids and adults learning to swim. Great personnel keeping an eye on things.
--Weight room with all those new machines for whole body workouts. You have attracted a very serious group of people working out.
--Shower room - Clean - Nice layout -Showers work well and are fixed when they don't work well. The locker room feels safe and protected.
--Attentive and friendly folks at the front desk.
--Cleaning staff doing a consistently good job everywhere.
--Overall a beautiful building and boost for Detroit.
