We enjoy the y senior programs under the silver sneakers a great deal. We are not able to participate in them a lot because of needing to babysit our grandchildren. We are not able to leave the children in the child care area under the silver sneakers program. It is not practical because of distance from a Y or can their parents afford the family membership to unable us to leave the children in the child care while we participate. A drop in hourly fee based programs for grandchildren might solved the problem for quite a few gradparents.
Amazing family pool! We love it!
Friendship, engage with others in same generation, interesting programs, trips
* The very helpful and friendly staff.
* The welcoming members
* John D's AOA class. He is a super teacher who keeps us challenged.
There are many classes tailored to age and ability. especially AOL. The instructors are trained and passionate about their jobs. Good equipment. The lap swimming pool is adaquate....but the aroebics class needs a permanent instructor. Right now there is only one substitute. This makes it very inconvenient for those who are regular members of the swimming aroebics classes.
The AOA is particularly geared to my need for exercise and contact with people of all ethnic groups......very deversified. and compatable with my interest. We play games, go on field trips, listen to professional people who share information.
The birthday celebrations are also part of the senior fellowship. We have parties on special holidays.
In summary, let me put it this way: "You meet the nicest people at the "Y"
The variety of classes offered morning and evenings. The large number of treadmills in the Wellness area. Thanks for moving the noisiest machines as far away from the yoga room as possible. It has lessened the unexpected, jarring thumps a great deal!
Parking is often a problem. It is easy to tell when kids' soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc are competing as parking is much more scarce.
The proportion of lap lanes for swim teams and swim lessons versus lanes for Y members (who pay a monthly fee) who wish to swim is very unbalanced.
Well run and affordable. What more could I ask for? The only reason I did not rate a 10 is instructors swap out quite a bit making it hard to build personal connections.
Everything
I attend Senior Exercise 3x/week; I like the Instructors very much. I love to attend.
I also ride the bike upstairs after class, but sometimes there are no bikes available. It is has been disheartening that the stationary bikes are in short supply. I usually have to wait a while and oftentimes I just leave. It's only we seniors who ride these and there are only 6 bikes as opposed as the 10 that were there before upstairs renovation.
I also attend the lectures and the bus tours; always interesting.
My family has enjoyed the Weekly YMCA for a few years now and would recommend it highly. Several classes are available with flexible schedules for busy parents. The child care center is clean with the accompanying playground, makes it a great option to leave your child while working out.
Overall, I'm supportive of the Y.
I would , however, like to see the Styrofoam coffee cups and plastic stirrers replaced with paper cups and wooden stirrers as a small step towards helping the ecological crisis we are in.
I did submit a suggestion a couple of weeks ago and also brought this issue to the attention of
the desk front manager, Melissa
Great variety of classes
I like the different scribing that they offer
Variety of fitness classes. The supportive environment - no shaming or competition against anyone but yourself!
We love “Enhanced Fitness” classes very much and our leaders are very dedicated. We fee much better since we attend. Wayne and Monique Dittloff.
Really great exercise, enrichment, education, and entertainment opportunities for Active Older Adults
I like the group activity classes you have some great instructors
I think the activities for seniors are absolutely great! And, I believe this to be almost entirely due to the tireless efforts of Elena Dinkins. A relative who visits our Y from Clear Lake tells me his Y does not have such extensive activities and he loves our Y when he visits. I enjoy the Games Day and lecturers Elena manages to bring to the Y. I always learn something new.
The biggest factor however, I believe to be the friendliness of the staff and the members. I also like and appreciate the diversity which exists at the Weekley Y. I really appreciate the space allowed in the desk area for coffee and talk with friends. In act, I would suggest the TV always be set at Closed Caption so people can enjoy a conversation. In today's world, enough time is already spent before observing screen-TV's, computers, cell phone and I pads. We need more face to face interaction between people.
And on a final note, I do exercise and love the older treadmills and diversity of the weight machines. I am not fond however of the large equipment (center back). The added noise of the tire falling or the weights falling to the floor is unnerving. I would suggest a noise level test since I recently read that sustained noise level above a certain threshold can result in some permanent loss of hearing.
Finally, kudos to Mr Marvin who is a joy to watch as he greets the children every morning.
I love my Y.
Variety
As a Senior Citizen, I like the activities and exercise opportunities that are offered. We need to stay as active as we can, and this helps a lot! I'd like to have more reserved parking for those of us who have some difficulty walking the distances of the parking lot, however! Thank you for all you do for us.

Facility usually not TOO crowded
I like the people on staff and the big array of people who use the facility. I like the feeling of family and community. It is a happy place. I am very happy with the yoga and body flow classes I attend. Tomako and Halimah are great instructors.
I love the group classes!!
A large variety of classes at different times of the day every day of the week.
Geared to all ages. Wide choice of classes and machines. Large outdoor pool.
I love the separate pools. I can always lap swim. My kids love the kids pool and the slide is typically open. It's also pretty clean. I can't say that about other Y's.
I like the classes and teachers:
Zumba Strong - Bea is so positive
Body Combat - Leslie is high energy
Yoga - I wish there were more classes and instructors like Olga available
I love the new equipment in the gym. I love that the pool is shallow enough that my 8year old can go into pool safely.

love the yoga classes and the pool. would like to see an advanced yoga again on wednesday or more often
