My horses have very shiny coats and their manes are growing. They are miniature horses and normally look like, well, furry things in the pasture. Their winter coats are not as long and they have a shine. One of the horses' has had a 5 inch mane for 13 years. It is now 12+ inches long. The only diet change is Platinum. Kind of says it all, doesn't it?
