The inspection was an excellent learning experience as a 1st time home buyer. After the inspection, I felt confidently informed about the issues discovered during the inspection especially with such a knowledgeable and experienced inspector as Andy. He clearly explained his methodology for the inspection and was detail-oriented during his inspection.

It was more than just a home inspection looking for issues that may trigger a pass/fail threshold in a real estate transaction. It's also an orientation on what to expect in ownership of the property. Examples of this included knowledge of various shut-offs (gas, electric, water), understanding the way that the HVAC air filter is installed in the house being inspected, dangers of using a fireplace without adequate fireproof hearth at list 16" away from a fireplace opening. Also, critical grading necessary to keep water from entering the house and the meaning of holes drilled in a concrete porch slab (indication of previous termite treatment). You get the idea. For these reasons among many, I recommend that you hire Rick and avail yourself of an opportunity to follow him around and ask questions. You'll learn a lot.
