I first came to Mathnasium in Summer 2019 to get my daughter ready for 5th Grade. The lessons she learned there were invaluable and she was able to continue her momentum in Math, even after pandemic hit in March 2020. When the opportunity presented itself to continue with Mathnasium online in May 2020 and there were offerings for tutoring sessions even on Saturdays, I jumped on board of that opportunity and I have not regretted this investment.

My daughter was missing foundational skills from 2nd and 3rd grades due to military moves, leaving her to feel ill-equipped with problem solving and with a lack of confidence for all things academic. When she started with the 3rd Grade assessment in the Summer 2019, she was at 41% for mastery and we were able to leave at 70% mastery on our way to 5th Grade.

When she took the initial 4th Grade assessment in May 2020, she had digressed to a 39%, something I already knew, but it was a necessary step to take to see how far she had fallen and our next set of lessons to fill in those gaps.

By the time she started 6th Grade, my daughter had been tutoring 6 days a week for an hour daily as per of her routine, including in the summer. When Quarter 1 finished towards the end of October 2020, we found out that she had made all As for all subject areas, including Math. It was my daughter’s first time on the honor roll and for sure her first time getting all As.

Now that we are in Quarter 2, her school is working on order pairs and plotting points in a coordinate plane; this was a concept that a year ago, as easy as it is for others, it was still a struggle getting her to visualize that and understand the x- and y-axis. Between her increased confidence and the awesome instructional support from Mathnasium, my 6th Grade daughter has maintained all As, including in math.

The day shows the results. Give it time, sign your child for tutoring sessions consistently, and you, too, can obtain results that may even exceed your expectations and help bring a smile to your child’s face when it comes to learning math concepts. An investment with Mathnasium, even after the kids obtain the desired result, is truly an investment in your child’s confidence and critical thinking skills for the future.
