We recently transitioned from another math learning approach to Mathnasium, and the difference has been remarkable for my child. Previously, she often felt frustrated because she didn’t receive the step-by-step support she needed, especially when she didn’t know how to break down a problem.

At Mathnasium, the instructors take the time to guide her through each concept with patience and clarity. Instead of relying on repetitive practice, they ensure she truly understands the “why” behind the work.

My second grader is now genuinely excited to attend her sessions. She looks forward to learning, and as a parent, that means everything to me. I’m already seeing a noticeable boost in her confidence and her academic progress.

I can’t express enough how grateful I am we chose Mathnasium, Clarkston to support and guide our teen toward comprehension and success with math.

I believe there are avenues for each family and student depending on level of need. This so happened to be the best choice for my teen who had a history of struggling in math since 1st grade, received teacher led tutoring in Elementary, and special math support classes in Middle School. Math support wasn’t helping likely due to class sizes & lack of a TA. This scenario lowers the chances for students who are struggling to get the one on one support they likely need vs relying on their “group” within their class to work through lessons.

The Director Mathangi Purushotham has been amazing to coordinate with from the beginning. She is professional, kind, extremely intelligent, and it was clear how extensive her education and retention covered a wide range of principles. Mathangi has such a calm presence, she is patient, and laser focused on setting the best plan for each students specific needs. My teen was struggling at the assessment meeting & had anxiety. Mathangi didn’t rush, didn’t become impatient, and if anything I could tell she was concerned. Instead all my teen was able to pick up was compassion.

It has been just under one month of enrollment 2 days a week and my teen does not fight me to go, and does not loathe it. My teen has had different tutors (they have different schedules) and has not once complained of being uncomfortable with teaching styles or personalities. Since tutoring began my teen feels calmer in math class at school, is understanding more, feels more confident, and has less math anxiety.

Last week was a small win, the first A- on the math exam at school! I was so proud and moved at how much this impacted my teens self esteem!
We scheduled tutoring sessions the week of the exam two days in a row to see if it would help prepare and practice those equations to comprehend. Beyond elated that this option helped tremendously!

I hope this review can help a parent/s who may be in a similar position of watching their child struggle and in the predicament where you are unable to help them due to the common core style being taught,that we were not. Don’t give up and if your gut keeps telling you that your child needs more intensive help before they can’t catch up… then this is your sign! Mathnasium is a solid option.

We have had a wonderful experience with Mathnasium Troy. My daughter has become more confident in her math skills and has improved. The teachers are extremely helpful and pay attention to the student's needs. The management is extremely knowledgeable and are committed to every student succeeding.

We've had a great experience at Loveland Mathnasium. Emily has been very patient and helpful working with our son. This is his 2nd year there. He has strong math skills and is in PACE math (advanced). The help he gets at Mathnasium helps him to bridge the gap on concepts he doesn't clearly understand.

Our kids have THRIVED with Mathnasium as part of our curriculum. We are so grateful for the Director and staff!

It’s a positive work environment for doing math. The tutors are patient, knowledgeable and well trained.

The environment is much calmer than a school classroom but also not so quiet that a student would have difficulty working through a slight bit of distractions.

The math program is a steady progression and truly builds my kids math skills. It isn’t just a hurry up and jump through the hoops situation.

My kids have become more confident and resilient because they are being enriched with problem solving skills they can recognize implement and remember.

It’s great as a parent because they look forward to going to Mathnasium. It feels rewarding to schedule them and round them up to go to an appointment because they have such a positive time.

Our son loves going to Mathnasium. Not only are they helping him catch up to the rest of his class, but it takes the frustration out of homework time at home. He feels in control at successful at Mathnasium, which is helping his confidence in the classroom. He comes home with funny stories of staff having to do jumping jacks, being able to pick a prize, or spin the wheel. But whatever it is that day, he leaves with a smile on his face, which is a huge win!
