We love how fun they make it for our young son to learn about music. The Little Rookies class is designed to teach them rhythm and just how fun music is. I love that they cater the playlists to the kids current interests. How excited was I when our 6 year old came home humming Zombie by The Cranberries?!? 😂

The staff at Plano facility, the approach, the community, the experience of working together in a band

We are very happy with the program and have seen a lot of personal growth in our child who is enrolled. Owen's instructors are fantastic (Preston and Robb) and we are thrilled to be able to provide this type of music education experience for our child. We are super happy with the program. Samantha Ray is another asset to the team - she makes it so easy for new families to navigate the program and facilitates solutions for all the questions that come up along the way.

SoR has served as our son's "team sport" for the last 8 years. He started at age 8 and is now 16. Finn has been in house band for the last 18 months and has enjoyed the comradery from being in a band. Several of them go to school together, which only tightens their bond. It is a great outlet for children who are more musically inclined and worth every penny!

Sam continues to turn School of Rock Plano into a model for what School of Rock represents. She should be commended for her new Merit-based Casting with our Adult band. Prior to this chage, our Adult band would sit around bored for 2 hours playing only 3 or 4 times, with plenty of songs having roles filled by instructors.

The Merit-based casting turned this around. We're literally playing close to non-stop all night. Everyone is more engaged and collaborating together on songs in the green room. And it gets instructors out of filling roles as much as possible. School of Rock is supposed to be "performance-based music education", and this new casting methodology turns that up to 11. This should be the model for all School of Rock's.

I also really appreciate Sam's willingness to have the tough conversations. As one of the more outspoken adult band members, Sam has always appreciated the feedback, good or bad, and always acts on it.

School of Rock Plano still needs to up the talent bar for instructors, but I'm confident Sam will make it happen. And the school is still in need of a serious renovation. It looks dated and doesn't accurately convey your brand message. Enrollement appears to be growing, so maybe even an expansion is in order, at least ensuring two full-sized rehearsal rooms and more rooms for private instruction that are better equipped. And please take some sympathy on my sore butt and get more comfortable chairs in the green room.

It's a long way to the top if you want to Rock & Roll, but Sam is getting School of Rock Plano within arm's reach.

What's not to like? Seriously! I love the full service offering which includes pairing the child with an actual band that they can learn and grow together with. I'm so excited for all of the wonderful experiences that will follow and look forward to seeing my child expand their musical skillset.

They’re fun, the teachers are amazing and we always love coming to lessons

The ability for students to apply what they are learning to actual band rehearsals is a key reason we chose SoR for our son.

Sam at the front desk is an extremely delightful person. I like that the kids do both lessons and rehearsals.

The programs are vey focused based on every kids capability and potential . Feedback received after private session are helpful for kids to work on after classes ! Instructors and staff are great !

The entire model of performance based is excellent and all of the staff are knowledgeable and more importantly patient and friendly.

Sam continues to do an amazing job as general manager. Several of us have even started to refer friends to join us in the adult program. She has also made strides in influencing the programs to make them more interesting for adults and kids. Everyone is excited for our next season, and even my daughter, who I didn't expect would want to continue, is excited to start her 3rd season.

The school still feels underfunded though for how much it is growing. It desperately needs a refresh / remodel to better align with a modern School of Rock brand. Even the simple things would make a difference. For example, some of the instrument cables in the practice room have to be jiggled just right for them to work.

I'm disappointed to see Keith leaving. He is an incredible bass teacher and will be the 3rd instructor I've had move on to other opportunities. I don't enjoy the disruption to my learning continuity. Replacing him with a top notch music director and bass/guitar instructor will be critically important for both the school and for me.

We are new to the program but are very excited for our son to participate. We love the immediate placement into a band so that he can instantly get hands on experience learning how to play drums. We love the music that is selected for him as well. We are very happy with the management of the school we attend. The G.M. (Samantha) is so friendly and professional and always willing to go above and beyond to help answer questions and onboard new families.

Everything! Every aspect of School Of Rock is absolutely phenomenal. What it has done to bring our son out of his shell, enhance and embrace his talents and give him confidence is second to none.

My son is in the very young class, but he has so much fun and class days are his favorite days.

I recommend School of Rock all the time. It's expensive, but the experience has been worth it. The cost could be prohibitive for a lot of my people (including myself at times.) I think it would be worthwhile for School of Rock to do community outreach for students who can't afford it. The Chamberlain Ballet of Plano does this.
Adult band is off to a good start. "Only one drummer" has blossomed into 4. Which is fine for me, but I feel sorry for the drummer who only gets to play with the instructors instead of the students because you've had to assign so many songs.
One remedy could be the Band app that SOR Dallas uses for the Adult band to communicate with each other. The group leader creates the list, adds/subtracts the students each season; could have communicated to the group: "we have 3 drummers now!" show times, song questions, wardrobe, social, etc.
The number of drummers in the group did impact my decision to choose this location, but hey, things change. Thank you for the opportunity to give feedback.

It is one kind of unique platform that gives the young students the exposure to perform in live audience environment. This helps the students to overcome if they have any kind of stage fright or nervousness. This type of program also helps to build the confidence of the students and their self-belief.

We have been very impressed with SOR in Plano. My son loves it and has learned a lot in just a few months. Everyone there is so friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend SOR in Plano.

Love the organized bands! As we have been doing this awhile and the school has grown so much, it would be nice to see perf band reorganized a bit. Would love to see high school perf band and middle school perf band broken up, so they are 2 different bands. We understand so many moving parts. Not enough staff to do this I am sure. Hope for the future. I love that we have been coming since he was 8, and he has never once asked to stop.

I've already referred two new adult students. Sam has done a tremendous job getting a handle on what was previously a poorly run and chaotic environment. She shows tremendous empathy and is very easy to work with. Having Andrew working fulltime at the front was also a great move. He is incredibly knowledgeable and well respected, presenting a great face for the School of Rock brand.

This past adult season under Sam's leadership has been my best season so far at School of Rock.

Some suggestions:
1) The school is badly in need of rennovations. Some of the practice rooms are a bit shoddy and not a good representation for SoR.
2) You need more instructors, especially non-guitar. It's hard to find open lesson times and make-up lessons are near impossible because everyone is overloaded.
3) You should solicit input from the adults for the season themes. We're pickier than the kids and the choice of The Beatles for next season has already caused multiple adult students to drop. Listen to your customers.
4) Still need more comfortable chairs in the front room! Adult band was full and sitting on hard metal chairs for two hours in not pleasant.

I love that the kids don’t just learn how to play an instrument one on one, but actually learn how to play within a band. They are challenged to play with kids who have more experience than them and develop the courage to perform on stage. It has been a life changer for my daughter.

This is our favorite thing our 10 year old daughter does! She thinks it's an absolute blast playing in a band with kids who love music just as much as she does!

Great to see SoR Plano stable again. Alex has done a great job righting the ship and I really like the new GM, Sam. Looking forward to a great time at SoR. You just need to add more of the comfortable chairs in the waiting area for the huge bands.

What I like is that, after years of unsuccessfully trying to get my son interested in music, a five day camp with you turned him around. He now listens to music and is excited to practice playing guitar.

My son loved the instructors, the fun nature of the learning and of course, rocking out.
