It truly is community in the group classes. The teachers who engage new students and help them feel a part of somehow is wonderful. The classes that don’t engage with new students can be harder to create this feeling. I hope it would be a part of how the teachers are trained to make sure and introduce themselves to new people and continue the accountability of the class.
I would say lately when I come and check in the people at the desk are more interested in looking at their phones than checking me in. I don’t think I should have to wait for a person to get off their phone to get checked in. It feels like a bummer and the opposite of what I feel in the classes.
The people at the desk that do say “hello” and make sure I’m good makes me feel better when I walk in.
The equipment and classes offered are top notch, the staff is friendly and recognizes me and the member community is diverse and a great reminder of the great people who live in Kansas City.

The staff is attentive and hospitable. The facility is well maintained. A lot of diverse options for classes. The community is served and networked well through the shared use of the facility, e.g., hosting the monthly food giveaway.
Nice people, good diversity, lots of working machines, easy in and out. Locker room is a bit warm and stuffy and could use more frequent cleanings.

I love my water aerobics classes with Roy and have followed him after the Y's closing of two other pool locations closer to me where he taught. The front desk staff and the pool lifeguards and friendly and efficient.
I use the swimming pool regularly because the water temperature is perfect for me. I've gotten to know other swimmers and the staff and feel at home there.
