My child enjoyed the field trips and team building games
Excellent people excellent place. Highly recommend.
It was very well organized. There were a variety of field trips that were great for all ages. There were different types of activities each week that could appeal to different interests.
Please enable the YMCA and/or JCPRC to continue offering this no matter what the cost. We have to work during the summer and this enriches our kid's lives during the summer. I understand there's a cost to the district but it means a lot that you chose to use our home elementary school for this.
The teachers are kind and keep the kids' behavior in check. They do fun theming and frequent fields trips. My daughter's confidence level has increased significantly with the consistency of staffing allowing her to be able to form connections with the teachers.
Safe reliable staff. Activities for kiddos
Great teachers, activities and programas
Tha staff are all awesome. The kids seem to like it at the Y-day camp. The locations are always at t local elementary school which is nice because the camp locations are usually convenient and because our children get to meet children from other surrounding elemenbary schools wihch will be nice for when they go to middle school and they will already know some children from the other elementary schools that feed into the middle school.
My son has had so much fun at YMCA Blue Valley Day Camp for the past two summers. There are many fun field trips and always a lot of different activities for him to participate in, from arts/crafts to sports/games. I personally appreciate that they have dedicated time for reading, too.
My son always comes home fulfilled and says he had fun/ a good day! The camp directors have always been great about communicating upcoming events and reminders.
The only activity my son has mentioned on a couple of occasions both this summer and last, that he doesn't have amazing feedback on is the pool. I think being indoors is not as much fun as when he did a JCPRD camp where they went to outdoor pools. I understand there are not as many community pools in Blue Valley, and that you'd like to use YMCA facilities, but if you are already bussing them all the way to Prairie Village, from southern OP, I thought I would share.
He has also mentioned that the swim test is inconsistent across locations - he was very disappointed that he could not wear goggles during the swim test at the Olathe location. This threw him off and he didn't want to do the test, even though he can swim. Olympians get to wear goggles, he says. :-)
Thank you for a great program and we definitely plan to sign up again next year!
My son has had a great time at camp. He has met many new friends and loves the staff. It has been a great summer and am happy that he was able to attend.
We've been going for several years now and it's been a wonderful experience. The staff is so good with the kids and the activities have been excellent.
The comfortable environment created that my grandson enjoys very much. He likes the counselors.
My girls loved it. They liked the teachers and loved all the fun field trips.
My kids loved the staff! They kept them busy :)
This was our first time at the camp, and we loved it! Our 6yo had such a great time, made new friends and learned a lot. I highly recommend the Y Camp.
I love that the kids stay active, still learning and not doing the same thing everyday.
It’s been a blessing! I am so thankful he was able to have something to look forward to each day instead of sitting around the house doing much of nothing. I am looking forward to him returning next year after his summer school ends. Thank you to all the staff including the lady who is at the office who called several times to tell me there was a spot open for him because he was on the waitlist.
Our son loves camp! He has met great friends, and stayed active all summer. We love the different activities each day and week that the kids get to enjoy.
We had a great experience at the Heartland location summer day camp this summer. Ms. Amy and Ms. Kelsey were GREAT! The communication exceeded our expectations.
The hours and flexibility. Also, the counselors were fantastic!
Good variety of activities. The counselors seem fantastic!
The YMCA had a great program for my son. He always came home with a lot of stories to tell about how much fun he had.
Field trips, swimming, friendly staff
This was our first experience with YMCA and it was truly fantastic! The staff was so warm and friendly, and my son loved it. It felt great to know that he was excited to go each day and was building meaningful relationships with adults and kids alike. I couldn’t recommend it more!
Drop off and pick up is quick, snacks are provided, and it was engaging for my child.
Great! My child loves it.
There were a lot more activities this year, which made it feel more like a real summer camp rather than just an extension of the before and after care program that he attends during the year. Counselors are all nice and he seemed to have a lot of fun.
It was well-organized and there was excellent communication with parents. My son always had a great week, and there was so much variety that he always looked forward to going.
The staff has been very friendly and helpful as this is our first year and we had lots of questions. My daughter loves getting to explore new places around the city on field trip days and getting some swim time in! The location is great for us and the flexibly to cancel spots that we didn’t need is so fantastic!

It is a great place for my daughter to go during the summer while I am working. Its keeps her active and around other kids her age. She gets to go on field trips and going swimming and participate in fun summer activities.
