My kids love Mathnasium. I have three kids, ages 12, 9 and 6, and they all look forward to the sessions every week. They love the Union Square location (the teachers make the difference!) The At Home version has worked very well this Summer as well.

It works well for lower school. My son is in private school. Their middle school curriculum goes much faster and mathnasium doesn't seem to match anymore.

All three of our children had different skill sets in math and all of their different needs have been met at Mathnasium. The flexibility of group/private sessions and the combination of being able to work on school material as well as strengthen basics (and beyond) has been crucial to our kids' success in math. The warm, nurturing tutors and the idea that math is both fun and useful played a huge role in our kids' love of math. They joined math teams, compete regularly, and perform well on standardized tests as well as in school. Mathnasium gave them the confidence and skills they needed to feel excited about learning math. We are thrilled with what Mathnasium has given our kids over the years. They have gained confidence as well as high level math skills resulting in our kids not only placing in math competitions and doing well with grades/test scores, but also, just being happy at school and feeling like they are strong at math. We have "math kids" in the family thanks to Mathnasium and are really grateful for the warm and professional atmosphere they provide. Our kids do both the group and the private sessions based on their schedules and needs -- could not be more convenient. We find that Mathnasium is more effective than a private home tutor and more fun as well.
