The instructors are very helpful in guiding my children through their lessons. They also try to show them new ways to do math. It is always something they look forward to sharpen up their skills.

We have seen our sons gaining confidence in math. Our freshman was in math class, during the group assignment, he had gotten a different answer than everyone else. Guess what???? He was right and everyone else was wrong, he had the confidence to speak up. Thank you!

My daughter enjoys her time at the center and has gained back her confidence in math. A suggestion: the room seems to need a better ventilation... I have noticed an odor every time I walk in.

Mathnasium has helped our daughter become more comfortable with math. No more frustration and battles over homework, and she's getting an A in her accelerated math class! Worth the expense.
There is a good balance of work and fun. She loves the tutors. She can see her own progress. Before Mathnasium, she glazed over any time she had to do math. Now, in her daily life, I see her think in mathematical terms and make calculations in her head to figure things out. What a transformation!

Our daughter was very resistant to having a math tutor, although struggling with math. When she went for her assessment (about 2 hours) said is seemed so short! David even taught her a little math "magic" trick which she had lots of fun with, showing to family and friends. She actually LOVES going to Mathnasium. Her first week, she wanted to go every day and nearly did, but with spring activities in full swing it is a little more difficult to find the time to keep up with that pace now. She is shy and I have been very proud of how she goes in and finds an instructor to sit with, without hesitation. She has had at least 9 different instructors and has said they are all very nice. I know her math confidence is improving, as her teacher just mentioned to me that she has been participating and raising her hand now in regard to math issues. We are so far very happy with the early results. :)
Our daughter WANTS to go to Mathnasium. And just today she said, "I'm good at fractions". It's the confidence building that all kids CAN be good at math and it can be fun that is what I appreciate most about Mathnasium.
Brooke has continued to show consistent improvement while going to Mathnasium. She recently won the Mathematics Award in her class due to all of her hard efforts. During student/teacher conference week her teacher mentioned she uses my daughter Brooke as an example to parents with a child struggling in math. She let me know Brooke's attitude and confidence has significantly changed and now refers students to Mathnasium. My husband and I are happy we enrolled her in this great program. The instructors are very nice and knowledgeable. They even have Sunday hours and are open most days of the year.
We absolutely love Mathnasium. The owners and the tutors are all extremely qualified and they have excellent customer service skills. I am still in awe that my daughter goes into the center eagerly and comes out with an even bigger smile. She doesn't want the time to end and she's on fire for math when she leaves. The only reason we stopped attending is because my high school daughter's after school athletic calendar got too full for Spring. We'll definitely be back and we've referred numerous families. Can't say enough good stuff about the Almaden site. Thank you!

Hi Angelina! Thank you for your feedback. We actually have lots of non-candy choices in the Reward Cabinet. Feel free to tell your student "no more candy." :-) We encourage them to save their punch cards, as well, to get bigger and better rewards (none of which are food items.) We also have games that are easily played in less than 5 minutes, but we let the students choose the game. Once the students are at their game time, please feel free to let them know if you wish to leave in a timely manner. Our instructors love playing with the kids, and if it's not busy, will happily let the kids sit and play for a long time!

My daughter doesn't refuse to go. She practice math regularly now. She doesn't hate math any more. I'll say that an improvement. As she continue to do so, she will be where I'd like to her to be. Math is everywhere. She doesn't need to love it but she can't hate it.
