School of Rock will naturally and based on interest create of love for music, practicing, and performing for your child. I love the growth I see in my kid's musicianship, and I appreciate her seeing the dynamic of playing in a band as well.
My daughter really enjoys her guitar lessons. She likes her instructor and is showing a lot of improvement.
Students, instructors, song choice, lessons.
I really like learning drumming on actual songs that I love. And my teacher is amazing!!
Great staff and great instructors. We enjoy your flexibility while a kid is figuring out what they want to play, and the proper direction and guidance to be engaged in learning!
My son has been taking lessons since the summer and his teacher has hooked his interest and gotten him excited about guitar enough to practice and want to learn more on his own.
There is a progression and performance base to the program. My son has enjoyed his instructors. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Wonderful teachers, great teaching style, and overall great experience!
I love how School of Rock makes it easy to just play. All of the logistics are taken care of -- song selection, casting, booking performances, scheduling rehearsals -- that ordinarily would be a huge challenge to organize and get consensus on from a group. Plus the instructors and staff are all great, kind, and have built a real community around the School of Rock in Boulder. It brings me joy to walk into the space every time. They also somehow have figured out how to cater to all levels of skill and ability. I've been playing in the Adult Band for 4 years and would recommend it to any adult who has ever had a glimmer of wanting to play in a band. School of Rock has kept my brain in learning mode and has reinvigorated my love of rock music, which is a pretty rare and beautiful thing to experience as an adult!
Great group of students. Very supportive staff.
It's amazing what great concerts these kids put on! I heard two and a half end-of-season shows this past weekend. In the group with the most middle school kids, they were doing a great job learning about music, performance, and teamwork. My favorite group went beyond that; I'd be happy to have that band providing live music any time!
That our kid has the opportunity to play in a band setting and mentor with a great teacher
I feel that School Of Rock is a safe place for kids to be themselves and meet other kids who are passionate about music. The rock band experience teaches them teamwork and helps them hone their collaborative skills.
People!
My kids love the music programs and camps, and I appreciate how organized the staff is - thank you!
I like the approach of learning on famous songs, it makes it more fun! And everyone in the school is very friendly
Such a great program. I love how the programs expose kids to all elements of a band and that they naturally get to experiment with other instruments and vocals and writing and the sound systems. The exposure is invaluable-it feels like it really moves them beyon d a traditional lesson on an instrument and more in to the whole world of music and it's possibilities. Thanks so much for all you do!
Great teachers and positive energy all around!
My daughter’s teacher keeps her engaged and laughing…which makes it fun for her since she’s kind of shy. And everyone who works there is so kind and accommodating!
We love the private/group lesson combo
Great instructors! Great support!
My kid enjoyed the experience and the staff was nice.
The performance program is great! One private lesson a week makes sure each kid can advance at their own pace. The weekly group rehearsal lets kids practice working together, and the down time during rehearsals (each kid is on roughly 1/3 of the songs) lets them get homework done (so I've been told) or hang out with their friends in the band. Although each performance group has a wide range of ages and abilities, the kids at Boulder SoR seem to be accepting and supportive of eachother. I'm also impressed by the quality of musicians being developed at the school: at the last show I saw, four guitarists were all doing amazing on incredibly hard songs, and a few of the grads are heading to top colleges for music. I enjoy listening to practice (at home) and shows!
The music choices and instructors
I recently wrote a couple comments that Boulder SOR immediately followed up with me on with a phone call. Brian was very helpful in answering my questions and clarified things I did not know.
Since COVID has caused chaos in all aspect of our lives, perhaps some parents could use an overview / update on how things work in general. (I often think that if we have these questions then others do to.) Our questions included overall yearly schedule and difference between main season and off season. I would still like to see what this looks like on a yearly schedule. i haven't found one online. We perhaps started with off season. And when options became more limited our son had to switch to main season which is really difficult for those who travel in the summer. Also had no idea that there are extra practice rooms for students to use during the 2 hour group practices while the instructor is working with some of the students. More specifically, Jackson enjoyed having Sean as an instructor for his last show. I thought he was well organized and a good communicator. Jackson would have liked at least one challenging drum song. They all seemed to be given to the 2 other drummers. It will be difficult for him to grow as a drummer if he isn't more challenged. Thanks!
Perfect integration of shows to keep the kids motivated and private lessons to hone their skills.
Fantastic program for young musicians! Instructors and staff are amazing! Great opportunity for kids to learn and grow their musical talent!
My son just started guitar lessons. He is enjoying it a lot and really likes his teacher Max. Max is doing a great job teaching my son songs he wants to learn.
