Excellent format to learn and play live shows
Kids learn by doing; they can work in peer groups in the performance program which enhances both their skill and their enjoyment of music.
The instructors and staff are good, but the building itself is not set up properly for a music school. There seems to be no sound isolation at all between the practice rooms. It is very distracting to hear multiple other students and other bands playing during a lesson.
The awesome instructors! They know how to teach all types of learners.
"It's super fun" --10 year old
I love how individual the lessons are, how much fun the teachers are!
School of Rock has been part of our lives for over a decade now. What an amazing place! From the instructors, staff, lessons, getting to belong to a band, getting to perform on stage, and so much more-it is a wonderful place to learn and to grow. Both of our children have benefitted from School of Rock!
Aidan loves his group and individual class. He is so excited each day and we'v seen a ton of growth in only 5 weeks.
Omg !! Your staff is Amazing !! Arrianna now has alot of confidence in herself. They teach her the guitar, let her sign and the on stage has really given her confidence. My shy granddaughter is blooming. Thanks to your wonderful program.
School of Rock Cypress is amazing! Their staff is awesome! I highly recommend it.
I like that my kids have so much fun :)
SoR has programs for all ages and skill levels. The staff is amazing and truly cares about the advancement of their students. The exposure the students get to playing in a band and performing in front of people is a game changer. There is nothing like the thrill of nailing a great rock song in front of a crowded venue. Seeing the confidence and skill of the kids in this program skyrocket is worth every dollar spent.
The adult program is great and a lot of fun.
We have been extremely happy with SOR for over 2 years now. Our grand daughter takes vocal and drum lessons, and is in one of the bands at SOR. Her instructors have always been very helpful, patient, kind, and fun. Maycee has learned so much more than music attending SOR. It has helped with her self esteem so much. She loves being a part of a “team”, and knows that her band members rely on her, helping her sense of responsibility and dedication. The school director, Bri, is amazing. She goes above and beyond her duties as a director, and has also become a friend to our family. We refer people to SOR frequently, and will continue to do so. Thank you!!
My Granddaughter loves it. That's good enough for me she loves her teacher and band instructor and looks forward to going every week.
Not only has my son learned about music, performance, and how to play several musical instruments, he has found an awesome group of instructors and friends in School of Rock. He enjoys every single lesson and performance, and has developed what I hope to be a lifelong love of music.
Rock 101 is a great method for team building and promoting self confidence.
School of Rock Southlake is amazing! Wonderful staff and instructors.
This is an amazing school!!! It has such an amazing environment and great staff! I’m very thankful I found this location for vocal growth and confidence!! SOR FOREVER!!!!!
I love that the Rock 101 class builds on what my daughter is learning in one on one lessons and that they get the opportunity to perform on stage with an audience.
Pricy lessons for only 45 minutes once a week. Good lessons but Not a great value
The instructors are first rate and the student relationships developed along the way are great. Challenge casting makes it fun.
Great staff!!!
Concerts, teachers, all is great
EVERYTHING!!! I've learned more here in a few months than I would have taking classes for a year elsewhere.
Excellent staff super friendly, my daughter learn a lot the best experience
My child has excelled thanks to your teaching program. Not only is he gaining immense skill in a short period of time, he’s also gaining confidence and making friends.
Learning musical skills through preparing for live performances is a great way to learn. The live performances motivate you to improve your playing.
Instructors are fabulous
The School of Rock is one place my son its excited about going every time! He has not only learned how to play an instrument, he is learning how to play it in a band! I am very thankful for The School of Rock-Cypress, They have helped my son develop social and emotional skills, It has been very positive for him in every way!
My kids did SOR Kansas City for a few years and LOVED it. They identified with being an SOR kid and they had friends who were part of that group.
When we moved to Texas, we were initially told that our younger daughter (who had been performing in the performance band since she was 9 - she was invited to move from Rock 101 to Performance Band by the instructors because of her abilities - I guess) could not be part of Performance Band until she turned 12. She became pretty disengaged.
My older daughter also had an instructor who wanted to spend her 45 minute sessions talking to his buddies instead of teaching. She became pretty disengaged.
Later, they came back to SOR, but Alyssa bounced from teacher to teacher until Doxie came. Both girls love Doxie. He's the reason they come back.
They did Performance Band together, but started to get frustrated because kids who meet the age requirement (but haven't played long) are being put into performances and apparently don't know their songs.
In KC, you had to take lessons for a period of time and "prove" yourself to get into Performance Band. In Tomball, if you're 12, they pop you into Performance Band, even if you've been coming to lessons for only a few weeks.
Our younger daughter was asked about joining House Band. I think both girls were asked at some point, but they have busy high school schedules and knew there were time commitments involved with House Band (despite both acting like they'd like to do it).
They did say there are a couple of guys who just "blow off" their time commitments and they didn't feel like that was fair to the other kids who sign up for House Band. The girls didn't feel like it would be fair to others if they signed up and didn't make it to the required practices.
Also, my younger daughter sings. She was asked to learn a lot of songs and she forgot some of the words. When a mom threatened me at an outdoor concert in Katy, TX, Ava got pretty frustrated and upset. She felt like being in House Band would require learning the lyrics to even more songs and she was afraid she'd forget the words sometimes.
