I'll speak about the Rookies program. I like it because it allows my kid to play different instruments and learn about different music styles. This program is a great alternative to "typical" music classes where kids have to pick an instrument and have to sit and practice from a book, which is not a method that would work for my kid at this time. I also like that it is a group setting and the kids have to learn to work together to make music. My kid loves going every week, as long as they get to play instruments.
I appreciate the dedication of the school to the new curriculum and to the discipline that is expected from the kids. It is an expensive program, so it is important to me that the kids learn and also have fun. I agree that kids who are not listening or are misbehaving should be given a brief time-out. I have to say, however, that I have struggled with the language used about the students who are very young kids. It is not just the kids who are accountable, it is also the instructors that need to understand how to engage and interact with kids at that age. You can only expect so much from 6 year olds in terms of attention span, especially when you are trying to explain theory. So I found this language in one of the previous emails a bit harsh and too one-sided: "...And to be prepared we have decided to implement a zero-tolerance approach to misbehaviour in our music studio...As you have probably seen, we have had some concerns with the behaviour of some children in the class and the instructors feel that they are spending too much time on discipline rather than musical instruction."
Thanks for soliciting feedback.
It brought me out of my shell and showed me how much i love performing on stage. The atmosphere is so friendly and wonderful, its a great place to learn music, with the wonderful teacher and bonds you form with the other kids.
I like being surrounded by people who have the same interests as me and I get to perform music that I love.
Kids feel free and open in a creative and safe environment
So professional and engaging for the kids.
It's a great opportunity to learn amazing music, meet very fun and talented people, have a fun band experience and actually play a gig
It's musically astonishing
I like how Ronnie talks to Jamie like an equal and always gives positive reinforcement.
The exposure to all the instruments.
They're so much fun and well run
close to home, professional
Very kid friendly. Yet teaches them skills. Really expensive, though. I won't be able to do this for long.
The convenience of being so close to my house!
The instructors are knowledgeable and talented and great with kids.
I feel like they are actually learning something each class instead of just playing around.
It's a friendly place and they are good at what they do.
The teachers are nice and know what they're doing. Plus they are affordable and easy to cancel meetings.
community, friendly staff, makes learning fun
Kids learn teamwork, responsibility, and discipline while expressing themselves creatively.
