Include towels and cleaner closer to the machines.
I would appreciate there being a closer monitoring of wearing masks to enter the building and signing in as well was congregating in the area just behind the desk. I see several patrons without masks each time I attend. I am not certain what the protocol for wiping down machines upstairs but I do not see that being done consistently. It needs to be done.
I am always surprised at how no one ever cleans the carpet in the yoga room. I was in a different spot of the room than I normally go. The floor was disgusting where the balls and equipment used to be. To me this should be any time there is class in there it is vacuumed, but if we're being honest I bet it hasn't been done in weeks or possibly months. The carpets need shampooed too, but vacuuming on occasion would be a great start.
Many of the staff are not knowledgeable about the classes and/or amenities about the gym.
Friendly staff , wonderful instructors and clean environment
The tennis and the outdoor pool!
Friendly and great instructors. Vanessa is excellent in all the classes she teaches. Knowledgeable friendly and fun
The place is showing lack of care and/or attention from employees. Some basketballs are completely flat, clocks have dead batteries or are never changed from daylight savings time, plants are unwatered, plants shed tons of leaves which sit there for a week or more, water fountain in the pool area sat completely rusted forever before somebody decided to clean it with steel wool, there is a substantial amount of trash in the parking lot which never seems to get picked up.
I'm really not very observant or a person who cares greatly about facility cleanliness and if I noticed these, I hate to think about everything I didn't notice.
I think they need to hire a few people who are more willing to stay busy and do things when they see them. It reminds me of teenagers who never see what obviously needs to be done.
Overall the gym is really nice. The numerous water leaks are no doubt frustrating for the business but that is a contractor issue.
However, I have a number of issues with the new spinning bikes and the Blue Light Special room. The bikes look pretty, but have some frustrating issues.

Issues with the Stages Cycling bikes
and the cycling room
1. Room: The left speaker in the room must have a cracked speaker cone because it pops and cracks whenever the bass is on. This is very annoying because it sounds like a handful of rocks rattling around.
2. Room: The blue lights are annoying. It is very hard to see with only blue lights. There needs to be some natural lighting in the room that the instructor can turn off and on to change the atmosphere from time to time.
3. Room: There is no place to sit (except on the stage) to change cloths.
4. Room: There is no storage for personal items except on the floor.
5. Room: The AC is good but the air circulation is poor. (At least) at the front of the room the AC blows on your back. In the old biking room, there were several fans on the wall that provided very good circulation of the air. This new room needs similar fans to circulate the air. Typically, when actually bike riding, the air is coming in your face, and good circulation helps evaporate your sweat so it does not drip all over the bike and the floor.
6. Bikes: The pedals are loose on the crank shaft. That is, where the pedal crank joins the driving gear or pulley in the center of the frame, if you wiggle the pedal crank back and forth as if you were pedaling forwards and backwards slightly, you can feel what feels like a loose connection between the pedal crank and the driving pulley. Under high gear and low RPM, you get an annoying click on every half turn of the pedal crank as you pedal. It feels like the mechanism is loose. This varies from bike to bike, but if this was your new car and you felt this annoying click on the steering wheel, you would get it fixed immediately!
7. Bike: When attempting to set the gear (blue knob), it is very difficult to dial in a particular setting. As an example, when trying to get a setting of 4, you might have to turn the blue knob one or two full turns from 3 to get 4 on the display. And then it will wander between about 3 and 5, perhaps eventually settling down to 4.
8. Bike: When changing gears, say from 4 to 5, again it might take over one complete turn of the knob to see and/or feel a difference. And then again the gear setting does not remain steady on the monitor.
9. Bike: When pedaling and then stopping (at least on S/NPhone number removed012) the mile indicator will continue to count, in most instances, up to nearly one additional 0.1 mile. Since during warm-up I usually stop every 0.5 mile for a brief rest, it makes it very difficult because for every 0.5 miles you want to go, you actually have to go one more 0.1 just to get 0.5 each time.
10. Bike: I compare the operation of these bikes to the Titanic. When you try to make a change in the gears, or stop pedaling, not much happens. The reaction is very sluggish, and it takes an unbelievable amount of time for the changes to occur. Sometimes you wonder if the guy who wrote the software was not really a software engineer, but more like a video gamer. If your car reacted this way when you wanted to change gears or stop, you would immediately take it to the shop to get it fixed.
11. Bike: By comparison, the old bikes were very predictable and repeatable. I spent nearly 2 years, 2-3 days a week on #9 and loved it. Would trade new #12 in a heartbeat for old #9.
If these issues are fixed, I believe you will see the attendance in the spinning classes pick up, as with the above issues many have dropped out of the classes.
On the other hand, the staff is very friendly and it is a joy to go to the gym.

It is super clean, the staff is always friendly, and it just feels like home.
Your employees unfortunately make fun of patrons who are not in there doing traditional workouts and the lack of care for safety and health during a pandemic is frightening. 20-30 people in a gym without a single mask on. And I haven’t stepped a foot upstairs since reopening because I’m pretty sure it would be the same exact thing I see in the basketball court.
Clean, friendly... great classes!
If the friend is a swimmer I would tell them this is not the pool to swim laps in. Prairie Life always keep the pool temp at 86 degrees. I've taken temps as low as 79 degrees which is not pleasant. It's not a consistent pool. Other than that it's a great place.
Pools. Would like to get back to the old Prairie Life Fitness hours. Used to be 5am to midnight M-F and 5am to 11pm Sat. & Sun.
friendly staff!
Private sauna/steam room/hot tub in the locker room. Also love the walking track!
Keep cleaner and stock bathroom with paper towels.
I absolutely LOVE the classes you have here. The instructors are super. I can tell they work hard to make the classes interesting and challenging.
Location is great, people are great
Terrible management
The South gym in Fort Collins needs some parking lot maintenance. I got a flat tire this week because I couldn’t see a pothole due to the weather. Sliced my tire up pretty good. Tree branches are also hanging in some parking spots, could fall on some cars with the right wind.
Otherwise we love our gym and have no issues.
The cleanliness of the facility and how the equipment is maintained
My trainer, Kathy Burns, is awesome. She is careful to protect me from injury and Covid, while still pushing me beyond what I think I can do. I enjoy the classes and their instructors who know who I am and provide the encouragement I need to remain committed. I love the friends I have made working out on the machines on weekday mornings. The young women who work at the front desk provide great customer service.
I have been a member of FCC for almost 20 years. It was rough during the transition when Genesis purchased this gym and the past years of COVID. But the remodel is wonderful, the pandemic was handled well, and the staff is great. I've made many friends from my years at the FCC and its nice to start using the gym more often again (I'm now vaccinated) and getting more workouts and seeing my friends again.
I am satisfied with the facilities at 132nd & Center. If I could make one improvement, it would be better access off 132nd into the parking lot. I realize this may be impossible. Ideally, it would be great if a portion of the vacant lot to south - near Arbor - could be purchased and a second driveway paved to the parking lot.
Angie, my trainer, is great. The other trainers, desk personnel, and other club personnel are very friendly. The individuals responsible for keeping the club clean do a terrific job. I'm very much looking forward to the remodeling.
For far too long, I was informed by your staff that the Merriam location would have a pool. I dislike being mislead.
Very disappointed by the lax enforcement of mask-wearing. The squash challenge players seem to disregard masks entirely, and basketball players often do too.
All the space and diffrent selection of workout equipment
Hi! Great job this year during the pandemic! I love the club. I'm so sorry I couldn't give a 10, as I know that's important. The reason for a 9 rating is due to a few things, but generally the upkeep of equipment. Here are some specifics: The lay-down tanning bed is broken recently or not working properly (the face lamps go off a few minutes into tanning and you have to press a certain sequence of buttons to get it to start.) Also, some of the machines in the cardio zone, as well as a couple in the machine weights zone, are out of order. Last year (2020) the sauna in the female locker room was out of order for weeks. The stretching/yoga mats in the north-side weight/stretching zone are worn out and have seen better days. All gyms have these maintenance issues from time-to-time, but what stands out at Merle Hay is the staff and the general set-up of the club. I like the price point I am at for the offerings and am not super worried about the upkeep of equipment because of that price point, but I wanted to give you the information I have.
