Flexibility. Since my job can be somewhat unpredictable, I can call to see if there happens to be an earlier or later opening so I can sometimes avoid waiting. I have the latest time available to avoid problems, but it's nice to be able to change if there happens to be something earlier available.

Even though I'm personal friends with my teacher, being able to play doesn't necessarily translate to an ability to teach. Having had a lot of music teachers throughout my life (one from Julliard), I'm impressed with his teaching.
