I always have some weird piece that I'm fabricating and still they always have what I need. These guys are the best, bar none.
I recently purchased some 2" square stock for a small fabrication project, which I arranged to have left outside in order to pick this up on a Saturday morning while working in the Cranberry Township area, for another project. In the early AM, I grabbed up the plastic wrapped package and returned to my shop to begin fabrication only to realize what was supposed to be 2" stock, was actually 1-3/4" tube stock, similar to another order placed earlier in the week.
I sent an email out to to customer service explaining the error and received a call from the store manager on Monday. Apologizing for the error, he indicated I could keep the 1.75" x1.75 " x 72" stock and he would ship out the correct 2" stock to me at their expense and free of charge. With fuel at nearly $5 per gallon and my shop nearly 80 miles round trip away from the store in Cranberry, I couldn't have asked for anything more. They handled the error as professional as it could have been and corrected the mistake quickly. In doing so, I've moved the Metal Supermarket to be the first choice for a metal vendor to call when fabrication products and metals are needed. Regardless of cost, no other aspect in business better than outstanding customer service and quality products will speak a greater volume or win repeat customers...

Small item purchases
I find it very convenient that Metal SuperMarkets cuts the metal to the exact size I need. Their large machinery produces a very clean cut so that I was able to take the cut expanded steel sheet and directly weld it into place - very nice. Since their metals are stored inside, I also appreciate that it wasn't covered in rust which saves me time and makes for a cleaner finished product.
