My experience was very good overall. It 's just that it was quite crowded with mats close together. However it is hard to know what to do about that without limiting the number of participants which I think would not be very popular.
Everyone is really friendly and inviting. It's not an intimidating atmosphere like some of the other yoga studios I have tried. It's also really nicey decorated :)
The classes and instructors.
Very friendly!
Very reliable on time schedule!
Peaceful; tastefully simply decorated and clean studios.
Nice music selections though would love to have opportunity to know the selections so that can play at home
Nice in shop items sold
friendly, non-judgemental service people at the desk. Multiple locations, variety of times offered for classes. Good atmosphere. Good instructors.
I like the instructor
its a great studio and i have enjoyed all the teachers. i do think you need to encourage people to not bring all their stuff into class. people bring in full bags and phones. i really find it distracting. i feel like the yoga space should be clutter free and phones especially should be out of the classroom. It's great you hand out all those mats and props. but maybe the mats should be stacked in corner and you get your own.
Number of classes; flexibility about membership (holds, etc); rewarding old members with competitive rates; lack of pretension in classes; sense of community.
the teachers
- The carpet in the studio doesn't feel hygienic given the amount of moisture generated in the room
- Although I'm sure theft is not a huge issue, the lack of secure storage of personal items is inconvenient
Quality, peaceful instruction cpnsistantly
In general I think semperviva crowds their studios to the point that the classes loose quality. There is not much individual attention and it is very expensive. The sea studio is beautiful. The view is amazing, and I love the wooden beams. I like the instructors, but for 20 a class, I feel I get more attention and a much better facility (sauna, shower, juice bar and free tea) at yyoga.
Air ventilation in the class. It is really warm in there.
Nice facilities, great vibe and a variety of classes to suit most schedules...and something about semperviva makes popping in for a class a simple part of a great day
A laid back, clean facility for people that like yoga, but aren't necessarily yogis!
everyone was very friendly and helpful. the instructor (Whit, I think was his name) was great - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable
Teachers, size of yoga room, fact that it's not heated too much, mats provided.
Its just a little bit too crowded for me. Also, please ask yoga clients to breath quietly through their noses and not groan out loud every time they move.
The teacher was excellent, but the lack of space was a bit much.
Need Change rooms and showers!
Tell the cashier to turn off her radio "news" because we can hear it from inside the studio. Very distracting and unprofessional!
Quality of your teachers and their ability to transmit values of integrity and commitment to health
honestly i love the space and the atmosphere there at the sea location and i will very likely continue my membership. but i wish you offered classes at noon and in the afternoon at the semprerviva sea location. i only have time to come on the weekends and i really wish i had more of a choice to come to this location after 11a. my only other critique is that the teacher who teaches the 11am class (i think his name is colin) is really over the top when he starts screaming at the top of his lungs during class about BREATHING. i know we must BREATH in yoga, and I know it is important but to have this guy literally screeching about it all through class is really stressful. i come to yoga to destress from the week, not to get yelled at. a certain level of instruction is good, and of course i appreciate his enthusiasm. but its really way over the top. i feel like hes like a drill sergeant! its very UNyoga like to me....please can someone talk to him about this? please dont scream so much in a yoga class! it is so stressful!!!! thank yoU!
Studio, staff and instructors at Granville Island location!
I didn't like the cd of the mantra with singing along. Some other yoga classes have used mantra without singing which I have enjoyed more. The singing made it feel too religious for me. Also, other yoga studios have showers. $20 for drop-in seems like too much compared to other $20 drop in classes (i.e. the same price as bikram yoga without the cost of heating or showers, and an experienced teacher)
I love the location on Granville Island - so amazing to be doing yoga, looking out over the water. Can't beat it!
Comfortable studio.
I had a positive experience overall. The reason I wouldn't recommend it is that I think that with the really big classes, it is hard to get personalized feedback on how you are doing - there were some times when I didn't really know how to do a certain pose and feel that I would prefer a smaller class.
I love the warmth of the teachers (especially Hali). I also have appreciated the fact that I haven't been harassed to buy a membership after that my 30 days introductory offer was over.
Good instruction. Would be nice to have mirrors on walls. Provide water fountain in the foyer area before entering into classroom.
Everything
Have lockers put in. Class was hot and crowded so little space to do all the movements.
