What do you like about our programs?

I am a Head Coach at a local High School and can't say enough about the overall structure and positivity of I9 sports. This is our 3rd year with I9 Sports. They are very professional and accommodate your family's needs. Having practice before each game and allowing our 3 oldest boys to play together on the same team helps our schedule out tremendously! We plan to be back again next year and enroll our fourth son as well.

What do you like about our programs?

We like the philosophy that every child plays, the value of the week, and that games and practice are once a week.

However, we have been finding that not all coaches follow i9 ideas.

1. Our daughter is on Flash Lightening - never played before, and until last week, was not being taught how to play. It was very disorganized until last week. No coach or coaching until then.

2. There are kids playing soccer in the 8 year old age group who clearly are not 8 or even 9 years old. They tower over our son, her brother not on the team, who is 11. Yesterday a girt on the team my daughter played was very clearly not 8 or 9. She also played the entire game and was stepping on kids while playing (because she was so much larger) and was heading the ball (the ref let her know, but she kept doing it - her ball skills were far above the rest of the kids too). Meanwhile two "chubby" boys sat on the sidelines more than the rest of the team. What happened to all kids play equally? I saw one of our coaches speak to the other coach about not subbing the tall girl and how unfair that is. I think he also spoke to someone at the tents. So far every team my daughters team has played, there have been kids on the other teams who are clearly larger than the rest. At least one team put their older player in the goal only. It is discouraging when other teams follow i9 philosophy, yet no one is monitoring to make sure everyone plays, coaches are actually there, and that kids are the same age.

3. Our son plays on the Cowboys and really his coach is the only one so far that seems to follow i9 philosophy. The Warriors held a two hour practice, arriving at 7 am the morning of their 2nd game, and the kids were much larger than my son's team. Again a first time player, but at least he played in the back yard and watches football...Almost every team they have played, their are kids that cannot be his age. Every team they play, the coaches have play books and some quite elaborate - just seems to go against the i9 philosophy and they take it a little too seriously. Coach Lane is fantastic and makes sure that all kids play, have fun, and that it is not about winning. They have yet to win a game, but they all keep playing hard because their coach encourages them to and tells them it is not about winning. Exactly why we joined i9. I think someone really should monitor all the games and see that all kids play and that coaches are not practicing more than everyone else and the playbook? Why? Some of the coaches are reliving their childhood I think and over doing it at that. It would be like Marcus Thigpen coaching a team and the rest of the coaches were just dad volunteers who knew a bit about the game. The Cowboys have one coach and he is exactly what we want for our son.

What do you like about our programs?

The program is a fun and friendly atmosphere for the kids. Each week, the coach teaches the team a value/characteristic that is good for the kids' mental growth, too (i.e. integrity, teamwork, listening, etc.). It is a really great sports program!
