Sport Clips is built on an excellent business strategy to draw men in as their choice in hair care, but it is a business that is still only as good as the employees who are in contact with the customers. While I enjoy the atmosphere and the extra services (such as the "MVP"), I have sat in the chair of certain stylists at different Sports Clips locations to whom I would never go back. Aimee Young, however, is another story entirely.
I first had my hair cut by Aimee some years ago at the Sport Clips on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh. Her obvious love for what she does, and the quality of her work, both made me feel quite comfortable coming back to her the next time I needed a hair cut. But it was her genuine care for me as a customer that made me go the extra step to find out her work hours so I would be sure to return when she would be there.
Eventually Aimee left that Sports Clips location (I believe she left the company for awhile) and I saw random people on my subsequent visits, even sometimes going to another hair cutting chain. I happened upon Aimee again at the Knightdale location and have been a regular customer ever since. On my last visit, I arrived just 10 minutes after the shop opened and there was already one guy in Aimee's chair and one guy waiting for her, even though another stylist was available with no waiting. In fact, by the time it was my turn, there were four of us in the waiting area, just waiting for Aimee, even though the wait was a little longer. I commented to her that customers can always tell when the stylist enjoys her job, or when she is there just to make some money. At times, some stylists (not just at Sport Clips) have made it seem that I was an inconvenience. But Aimee always seems to have a smile and an attitude that brings clients back again and again. Besides her welcoming demeanor and great attitude, she does quality work and is always a very professional representative of your company. She suggests hair care products that may be of interest to me, and makes sure that my hair cut is styled the way I like it.
I have worked in customer service positions for about 25 years, and most places I visit seem to have lost the vision of taking care of their customers. I could save a few dollars going to another establishment, but I am willing to pay a little more to go somewhere that takes care of their clients. The more people you have like Aimee Young, the more your business is going to grow.
I felt impressed to let you know what I have been thinking for some time now. In a time when it is not common for companies to really believe the customer comes first, you all are marching to a different beat. I will continue to come back and tell my friends to do the same.
