It is too early to say If we would recommend Sylvan to a friend. We would like first to see Salomé's SAT results to confirm that Sylvan helps her to improve.
Based on Salomé's feedback, some teachers are better than other or at least, some teachers are a better fit for Salomé. For instance, Salomé enjoy working with Carla. She is good at adapting to the pace of the student. Rebecca goes at a slower pace. So as a result, Salomé prefers to work by herself. Thanks for asking for our feedback.

Flexibility in schedule
Very organized and thorough program. We saw a four point increase in my sons ACT with just 8 hours of instruction.

M got all a's on first 6th Grade report card with the exception of math That she got a B+. SHe is reading a book a week and she is fully engaged in school. B is actively reading for enjoyment. You gave and/or reinforced thier self confidence. No doubt.
Can't evaluate until we see how my daughter performs on her next ACT.
Most of our students say our ACT Prep program helps them with test-taking in general. As they work directly with teachers, complete homework and practice tests, and analyze errors on Sylvan TestPrep online, they see their improvements and gain confidence. They all, of course, are looking to improve their scores. Average increases have been 4-5 points for students who complete all components of the program.

The Sylvan program is not designed for kids with dyslexia. Spent a lot of money with little progress. Sylvan ' reading program worked for my other child.
You offer a variety of services to help different types of students. My experience with your Midland office has always been positive.
Both of my children seem to enjoy the classes and are learning. Whats not to like?
They are flexible and staff is very friendly and helpful.
Has kept me informed about my daughter progress. as well as kept her interest in reading.
I have a meeting next Monday to find out how well my son is progressing. I may be able to rate Sylvan higher if I see the information about his progress. I know that it is hard to put a price on education and I am willing to pay what I can to help my son be successful but driving him an hour away and paying what it costs is a lot.

I like the fact that my son's reading program is comprehensive. I think the program is setting a solid foundation for his entire education.
A great way to retain what was learned during the school year throughout the summer months.
Our daughter increased her ACT score by only 3 points and she was devastated when she found out her score. She was trying to get to a 27 and is only at a 25 now as she applies for college. She felt that she could not speak out during tutoring sessions with other students and that the pace was too fast, but that she didn't feels safe in asking for clarification.
Students are encouraged to ask questions during our ACT seminars. It is up to them to take the initiative to do so. Those for whom the pace is too fast generally do individualized sessions. During this particular seminar, a second teacher was available to help. To achieve the maximum benefit from our program, a student must complete ALL components, including the online homework, as it is an essential part of our program. Those who choose not to take advantage of the online portion miss many opportunities for analyzing their errors, which is key to avoiding repeated mistakes.
quality of tutoring
One on one learning. Assessment explanations - knowing exactly where my child is at and where more attention is needed.
In my opinion, there could be more communication with the tutor and parent directly instead of waiting so long for an update from either Karen or Ryan. It is always good to have reinforcement from the parent to the child and that can't happen without more time with the tutor
I just prefer to not to pass judgement until Walter has been attending long enough to make a truly accurate appraisal of his gains.
Although it is too soon to assess growth this early in a student's program, we still like to get feedback on a family's initial experiences.
Everything, Marissa has improved her grades a reads more now then she has ever!!!
We like the fact that Sylvan gives us lots of detailed feedback on what our son is doing and more importantly, how he is doing. We also like that besides academic skills, Sylvan also teaches organizational and social skills. So far it has been a great program.
