My daughter came to sylvan for math/algebra tutoring yet is still failing her quizzes and tests. She normally has a one on one session a day before her tests.
We highly recommend a minimum of 2 hours per week for our Homework Help students to ensure they are understanding concepts being taught at school. An occasional hour the night before a test is rarely enough, especially if the student is struggling with basic concepts. When this is the case, we encourage parents to have their child assessed, so that we can develop a personalized program to address his/her individual needs, allowing us to build a solid foundation.
excellent instructors, good, individualized learning program. excellent center director and educational director. I am impressed by the willingness to contact current teachers and work together towards academic goals.
You now have Saturday hours. I don't recall the Bay City location (before closing) having Saturday hours. It is more convenient for us since we live a further distance away.

I feel that my child is learning in a friendly environment with experienced teachers, which help her to understand problems that she was having difficulties with in the past.
During the interview process, you described developing skills for my son to look ahead and study for future projects. He does not seem to be doing this. He is getting tutoring on his homework for that night. He does not seem to be working on a planner or a different method for keeping track of homework. Definitely is not having discussions of the STUDY Time for future assignments. He is still very nightly focused.

Honestly, my son is getting tutoring and I have NO IDEA how he's doing. I guess I need to call and see how the tutor thinks he's doing.

The flexible scheduling and the friendly tutors and staff. I think that my boys are improving with sylvan tutoring and getting caught up on concepts for math and English that their public schools failed to teach them.
I especially like Cathy Ringey Center Director at the Midland location for Sylvan Learning Center. She is very friendly,understanding and polite also very professional.
I do believe that Sylvan has been and will continue to be a great scholastic advantage for my boys for school and College.

So far everyone has been very easy to work with. We are very committed to our daughter's success and it seems Sylvan is equally committed.
Prompt and courteous service.
prices are a bit high and there were a few times where the lessons were cut short by 10 min which is disappointing, it costs $46 an hour and I would like the lessons to last the whole hour
My daughter thinks she is not being challenged or getting anything out of this program. I will be discussing this with you on Wednesday.
Everyone is very nice and support helpful
kids are eager to attend. Grades are improved. teachers are caring and professional and really connect with the kids. sylvan is accommodating to our schedule.
Sylvan tests and finds out exactly where help is needed and then builds the program from there. The Sylvan program has filled in the gaps of understanding concepts, in both reading and math, far exceeding our expectations. Retests show the progress and jump in grade levels. We wish we would have done this years ago. The Sylvan staff are also great to work with. Thank God for Sylvan!

Well we just started so until we have been there for some time i have no suggestions at this time! so far so good!
For ACT prep sessions, offer more flexible scheduling options. High school students are so busy with homework, sports, NHS, and other commitments that Sylvan's rigid schedule is frustrating to work around. And your prices are steep. ACT test scores will prove to us if the cost was worth it. Regardless, the cost will prevent others from using Sylvan.
When we first contacted Sylvan we talked about expanding our hours once school was out for the summer. We also made it clear that we could not make it before 6pm on weekdays and were looking heavily to the Saturday hours. NO MENTION was made by Sylvan at that time that the summer hours were greatly reduced and that Saturday hours in the summer were non-existent. I understand that you may not have the business to carry the same hours in the summer, but the least that could have been done would have been to let us know what was going to happen BEFORE we made a commitment. As it is, we will need to look for alternatives and may not continue with Sylvan long term.
More student evaluations or quizzes to be sure the student is keeping up with the concepts.
As part of homework help, provide a few additional problems to be sure concept is understood.

Loved the fact that there was coaching available for the ACT test. Worth the time just to have the structure and tips.
It works at the childs speed and level and the teachers are really good with my child. I also like that I get to choose when my child comes and when he is not available which means he can still be involved in school sports and clubs as well as being able to get the extra help he needs.
The friendliness and understanding that my child would rather be any where else at the time of studying- than sitting at the table- very much appreciated
I like the one-on-one hands on approach that is used instructing the students at Sylvan. Sylvan has found a way to keep my daughter engaged and she has never complained about attending class.
