My son hated reading and trying to encourage him felt like we were nagging and making things worst. Sylvan not only helped our son reach his grade level but changed his whole personality because his confidence grew. He still hates reading his homework but he gets great marks and doesn't struggle with doing his work. Now, 2 years later our daughter has struggled with reading and writing. She repeated grade one but that never helped. She was diagnosed with Irlens Syndrome. With some tools (colored overlays, tinted glasses) she can see the words properly, however she is needing to start all over with reading because she was seeing everything wrong. She told us that her worry was not passing. Sylvan has calmed her fears, and given her the confidence that she needs to succeed. Sylvan isnt just about grades, it's about encouragement and increasing confidence. A parent can be as positive and supported as possible, but sometime your child needs a stranger to give them that reassurance in themselves. I will gladly be a reference for Sylvan anytime.
