Arya and Alina math skills and their confidence in math has progressed immensely since starting Mathnasium last fall. Especially incredible is how much Alina has learned as a 3 year who barely knew her numbers to now adding double digit columns in lass than 6 months.
The entire staff (both front office and teachers) are amazing, friendly, and accommodating to our ever changing schedule and always greet the us with a big smile on their face. Our kids love going to Mathnasium so much that I use it as an incentive to get them to do their chores etc.

My daughter’s grades in math are so much better since we have been taking her to Mathnasium. She has been able to get on the silver honor roll for the 2nd time this year! She has never made honors in the past because of her struggles with math at school. Thanks to everyone at Mathnasium. Your hard work is helping our children and community!!!

Both of our kids have really enjoyed learning at Mathnasium
We went to Mathnasium for help in middle school and it was very successful for my son.
Fast forward a couple of years and high school geometry is not going well. The first thing my son asks for is to go back to Mathnasium.
We saw improvement in just a few sessions.

My daughter struggled in math for years. She got to the point where her confidence was so low that she would say “I just suck at Math”.
After a few months at Mathnasium she started getting A’s in math at school. She said that Mathnasium makes learning math fun and it’s not so confusing like how it is taught in school.

I'm happy that my child enjoys working on math at your center. That is a big step - just getting her interested and wanting to do math. We are new so I can't comment on her progress. But I'm looking forward to seeing what that is.

We started with Mathnasium the summer before 2nd grade and we are now in 3rd grade. Not only has our daughter caught up but she now has much more confidence when it comes to the subject!

My oldest daughter had very low confidence in math going into 4th grade. She was very anxious about taking math tests and understanding new concepts. In addition, I don't think her 4th grade teacher was very skilled at teaching math. (San Carlos school district) My daughter was getting average, meets standard type of evaluations which isn't very good when it's basically only getting 50% of the answers correct and there were many math topics of her level that were apparently not even covered by her teacher. At Mathnasium, she reviewed the entire 4th grade math curriculum over again (while in 5th grade at school). She had a much better math teacher at school for 5th grade (same San Carlos school district), and combined with reviewing the 4th grade material again at Mathnasium, she greatly improved in her confidence and her grades. Now she is in 6th grade and reviewing some 5th grade material. Her 6th grade math teacher at school has been excellent so that is also helping a lot. My daughter told me recently math is one of her favorite classes now (wow!) and she doesn't seem nearly as anxious about the tests and doing her homework as she used to. She got placed into an advanced math class for 6th grade because she did well in her 5th grade class and I was nervous about her being in this advanced level given her prior lack of confidence - however, she's doing really well so far and getting very good math grades on her tests. I think reviewing the 4th grade curriculum in detail was really important as it gave her a much better foundation with which to learn as she is getting older. So from a review stand point, I think Mathnasium has been extremely helpful.
My younger daughter started at Mathnasium earlier, when she was in 2nd grade - she seems to have an easier time with math than my older daughter had at her age and is now way ahead of what she is learning in 3rd grade, so math in school is very easy for her and she got 100% on her 3rd grade math evaluation test at the beginning of the school year. I think going to Mathnasium has given her even more confidence in her math skills so I'm glad I got her started early on getting some extra math review. So I would highly recommend going to Mathnasium and the drop-in schedule is helpful as my kids have various other activities they do and it's hard to find the time to get the kids over there. Luckily we have a bunch of friends whose kids go so we can carpool some of the time.
One thing I think Mathnasium could improve upon is monitoring the kids better during their session when they are having trouble understanding a particular topic. There have been several times when one of my kids spent the entire class doing just one page of problems because they didn't understand the topic or because they found it very boring or just really hard to do. They tend to be pretty shy about asking for help when they need it. When my kids let me know this has happened (because I always ask them what they did that day in their session), I tell someone there that my child needs more help with that topic but by that time, the session has been more or less wasted so I would like it if Mathnasium realized what was going on at the time rather than needing me to alert them about it. Lastly, it would be better for us if the summer hours included part of the weekend because our kids typically go to camp most of the day during the week and it's hard for me to get them there during the week. Sundays are a much better day for us to bring them there. Lastly, I wish there were more shady places to sit because I'm often trying to get work done while the kids are there - they have told me I should go down to the Starbucks but I typically don't want to drink coffee or buy anything over there late in the afternoon so I don't like going to the starbucks. In addition, the wi-fi strength is quite poor so I often have to use the hot spot on my phone. It's nice they even have wi-fi there but it would be great if they got an improved service as I am a working parent and would like to make the most of time sitting there getting work done while the kids are in their session.
Hi Laura - Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! Both of your daughters have made such great progress on their unique math journeys, and they are both such a pleasure and joy to work with. We are very proud of their increase in confidence and math skills! We look forward to supporting them both through the school year and beyond! I'm sorry to hear about a whole session spent on a difficult topic! We always strive to ensure each student gets the most out of each session, and to make sure we are helping a student even when they don't necessarily ask for help. We're currently increasing our staff, and we will also cover this in more depth at our next staff training. Thank you for continuing to encourage your children to speak up as well!
In regards to our parent waiting area - as we expand the center to make room for more students, we have had to rearrange the parent waiting area, but we are still glad to have one to offer parents! We hope to keep our parent waiting area and game area available for all families. We've tried numerous solutions (custom tint, custom blinds) for the sun, and we're soon looking to further install awnings. I'm sorry to hear about our wifi strength - feel free to come see us and we'll give you our main network password while we look into the strength of the guest password. Lastly, thanks for the feedback on our summer hours. We will poll the families again to see what hours are preferred, but we anticipate staying open 6 days per week next summer :)
