Having played sports through high school and intramural/club sports during college, going to a gym to run on a treadmill and lift was always a challenge. It felt aimless. After living in Charlotte for a few years and bouncing around, I found MAD and have been obsessed every since. First off, the workouts are well thought out and feel purposeful with a goal of moving well in life. Second, there is plenty of weight on the floor, meaning a huge focus on strength. Third, physically I’ve felt just as good as I did in college, which I never thought I’d get back to after battling cancer during my senior year. Fourth, have seen real results in athletic performance, going from a 3 handicap before joining MAD to being a plus handicap now. Lastly, MAD preaches consistency and balance, living a life that is enjoyable. Workout consistently, try to eat healthy, but overall the goal is to feel good and age well. All that to save, MAD has been the gym I’ve always looked for as I get older and play sports less. It’s a fantastic mix of exercises with coaches that care about their clients performance and growth, I couldn’t imagine working out anywhere else.

Coaching style is informative and specific without being too technical. I love the various class types with different intensities. Experienced knowledgeable trainers who focus on proper form over anything else. No gimmicks, fad diets, or wt loss challenges. The nutrition blueprint is a huge bonus!
I never have to feel like I am holding up others because I am challenged by a particular movement or station. The trainers constantly monitor our form and well-being through the movements and ensure that at each movement you have a partner to watch (in case you forgot the movement) and cheer each other through.

The culture and programming is unmatched compared to other group gym settings in my opinion. What makes it stand out is the caliber of training staff especially in regard to members who require modifications due to injury or other limitations. I can’t say enough good things. I know even on days when I’m not feeling athletic or energized I know I will always come out of this place feeling like I made progress toward my goal of becoming a stronger and more athletic individual.
